Many companies utilize mobile tools to capture data digitally on site, thus avoiding recording data multiple times and compilation issues commonly encountered with traditional pen, paper, camera & GPS methods.

There are various options available, and the choice depends on your requirements.

If maintaining functionality, interface and data consistency are critical, CORE-GS is the tool-of-choice.

Usable screen space can be optimized on Windows devices using the Tablet Mode, while maintaining all of the functionality used in the office, such as report generation.

Mobile users can also take advantage of the Windows Location Service to show the devices current location on the map control, and capture photos directly into the database using the inbuilt camera control (i.e. functionality depends on device specifications).

If reliable data connectivity (i.e. 4G) is available, it may be possible to connect directly with the central database.  If not, a standalone database can be installed on the device with data transferred to the central database using either:

  • SYNC Add-in - supports bi-directional transfer of all data (including templates)
  • XML Export / Import - supports XML data and files (i.e. images)

When relatively unconstrained data is being collected (i.e. simple forms) there are a number of 3rd party tools suitable for use, ranging from Excel to more advanced systems such as that provided by Clarinspect.
