Viewport navigation

To navigate around the viewport there are the Navigation Tools located at the top of the viewport and a Navigation Cube in the top right corner.

Model_Navigation
 

Navigation Toolbar

The navigation toolbar is located at the top of the viewport.

Model_Viewport_MagnifyingGlass_Button

Magnifying Glass
Allows the user to see a close up of parts of the viewport without changing the overall zoom.

Model_Viewport_ZoomWindow_Button

Zoom Window
Allows the user to click and drag to highlight a part of the model, the highlighted part will then zoom to fill the viewport.

Model_Viewport_Zoom_Button

Zoom
With the zoom tool selected the user can click and drag to zoom:
Click and drag upwards for zoom in.
Click and drag downwards for zoom out.

hs-tip

Alternatively scroll the mouse wheel, or use a pinching action on a track pad or touch screen.

Model_Viewport_Pan_Button

Pan
With the pan tool selected click and drag to pan any direction within the viewport.

Alternatively hold down the CTRL key + click and hold down the mouse wheel.

Model_Viewport_Rotate_Button

Rotate (3D only)
With the rotate tool selected click and drag to rotate the model in 3D within the viewport.

hs-tip

Alternatively click and hold down the mouse wheel then move the mouse.

Model_Viewport_ZoomFit_Button

Zoom Fit
Select the zoom fit tool to center and zoom so the model fills the viewport at its current orientation.

Additionally, right-clicking on the viewport will show the contextual menu containing Zoom Limit (see data limit) and Zoom Fit:

Navigation Cube

The navigation cube is located in the top right corner of the viewport:
 

Plan (2D)

The navigation cube is disabled and locked in a top-down view in the Plan (2D) environment.

Model_View_Cube

hs-tip

The only way to change the rotation is by using the Zoom To Alignment tool.  To reset back to the original orientation right click the viewport and click Zoom Limit (CTRL+SHIFT+Z+L).

 

Model (3D)

Clicking and dragging on the navigation cube will rotate the model to various orientations.

Hovering the mouse over the navigation cube to show red highlighting representing the selected face or the compass points (N,E,S,W).  Clicking on these selected feature will change the view orientation.
